My name is Katrina Boonzaier but known as Kat to my peers at the University of Florida where I call home.  I am a third year telecom major at this school and also a dance minor.  Since arriving here in Gainesville in August of 2013 I have already crossed many things of my academic and social bucket list.  The journalism department is host to many professional people who have led me to achieve my goals and encouraged me to find my niche in this diverse field.  With this department I took my talents to Italy last summer and worked and learnt with professors and students in this awesome environment.  It was wonderful to see aspects of journalism and professionalism on the other side of the world all while still under the familiar umbrella of the University of Florida.  Of course my dreams include hosting interviews and talking to a variety of people and relaying these stories to the population.  My mentors have allowed me this opportunity and given me the ability to talk to a large variety of individuals from all walks of life and transpose myself to portray the stories in the most accurate and entertaining ways.  While I am still looking around this department in awe at the sources and equipment at my disposal I am grounded by the fact that in this field I am a little fish but in saying that I am aware that I am allowed the opportunity to grow and learn from the best.
